Ellen

Today is Ellen's birthday, and Fiorella wishes her well. But it's not just Ellen that she celebrates--it's Ellen's family too. Eve and Norman Paule influenced and enlarged Fio's life. They were the ones who had a Time-Life art series she absorbed like a  felt blotter, who took her along with Ellen to live performances of music and drama, who included her in rides to swimming and sewing lessons, who introduced her to Yiddish, who, by the sort of people they were, taught her to respect and honor Judaism.
