Literary Sting

It happened yesterday.  A scorpion stung Fiorella's left foot on the third toe--the little piggie who ate roast beef.  She whapped at the beastie with her notebook a couple of times, but it scuttled to safety.  then she hobbled over to the pantry to grab the box of baking soda, mixed it in a shallow bowl with water, and soaked her toes in the soupy paste until the pain abated enough for her to take care of  morning chores, leaving a trail of baking powder everywhere she went.

Of course, you're familiar enough with Fio by now to know her first thought . . . .

How can I use this in a book?
