Why does Fiorella enjoy Big Bang Theory, Lucifer, Little Couple, and Income Property? Because they are "sweet" shows--no drama, no repercussions, no characters who are going to get their throats slit in the next scene. Big Bang and Lucifer make Fio laugh, Little Couple gives her hope, and Income Property is always different, yet comfortably the same.

Sleepy-pie.
Forensic Files is Fio's favorite nighttime lullaby. She watches episode after episode to calm herself before she goes to bed, The narrator's voice is smooth and soothing, the cases are always solved, and there's no drama.
She also likes House Hunters, and various home renovation shows, especially Income Property. Scott makes her feel like all is right with the world, which she needs to hear when she' wants to fall asleep.
And then there are the really boring commercials for hair transplants . . . .

The Truth of the Matter
The most active room in Fiorella's house is the den, formerly known as the family room, now often referred to as the bone room due to Sonia Dog's habit of decorating the venerable oriental carpet with well-chewed rawhide bones. Actually though, the room is command central. Husband has gathered everything he might possibly ever need within reaching distance of his recliner while Fiorella lounges on the leather couch to make out her interminable lists, write her romance novels, and catch up on Income Property, Big Bang, and The Little Couple.
The rest of the house is just for show.

Sleepytime TV
Hear ye, hear ye!
In order to relax at the end of the day, Fiorella wants to watch happy. charming, non-challenging, low-key television from eight to ten. No shows with tension in them, which cuts out America's Got Talent and the like, and also covers all the NCIS variants. No scary shows either--Fio doesn't need to dream of what might be lurking in her attic. And nothing that makes her sad, excited, or angry.
Plain jane House Hunters, Little Couple, and Income Property are usually her choices, but the former is in reruns and the latter two seem to be in abeyance..
Maybe she'll be forced to take up reading again.

TV Tidings
When Fiorella turned on TV last night, she switched quickly through the talking heads discussing chemical warfare in Syria and past Piers Morgan dissing Congress for backing away from banning assault guns and went straight to Scott McGillivray's Income Property, one of her favorites. It's not that she doesn't care about chemical warfare or gun control--it's that she can't do a thing about either of them and wants to be in a pleasant frame of mind before she shuts her eyes at night.
Which is also the reason that she won't be watching the Duggars flaunting their nineteen children in one-child China.

Hop Scotch
Riddle me this: when is one Canadian Scott worth twice as much as two Canadian Scotts?
Answer: when it's Scott McGillivray of Income Property vs. Drew and Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers.
All three are HG stars. McGillivray, a carpenter and real estate investor, turns dank basements into income-producing apartments for income-poor householders, obviously an occupation which would only work in the northeast, but his personality has given the show a national following. The Scotts, frighteningly identical twins, have focused their show biz backgrounds and real estate experience into making crappy houses into supposed dream homes for hapless families.
McGillivray may not have a theatrical background, but he's a natural--handsome, muscular, sexy--with a sparkle in his eye, a ready smile, and a quick wit He's got good taste too--Fio likes his makeovers. And he's always explaining construction and educating viewers about things they hopefully will never encounter.
The Scotts have tried to define themselves as individuals by styling their hair differently and labeling one as the salesman/designer and the other as the nail and hammer construction guy, but it doesn't work. For all their show background, their faces are identically expressionless--no affect, as my psychologist friend would say. In fact, if anything, they come across as anxious. And they darn well should be: the houses never end up totally as planned, and Fio can't stand their garish decorating style.
Fio's aversion for the Scott brothers has reached the stage of revulsion. They seem greasy. Their eyes never smile. Fio may be totally off base, but something seems fishy.

Voila!
Given the frequency Fio critiques TV shows, you probably think she spends all her time watching the boob tube, but actually she has only a few favorites: the country dwarves and the city dwarves, Project Runway, The Choir, and Income Property.
Income Property features Canadian Scott McGillivray, who transforms people's cruddy basements into high-dollar income property. It's fascinating. Fio's always liked before-and-after stories.
Now, if she just had a basement.
