Pigs, Walls, Celebrities, Landscaping, TV Killings

Well, judging by how her guinea pig post came out, Fiorella needs to learn a little more about transfering pictures from FB.Sigh, just one more electronic hitch in Fio's life. Wasn't technology supposed to make it easier for her?

Fio, of course, is as happy about the defeat of Trump's attempt to toss Obamacare out the back door as she was about the judicial rulings on the Muslim bans. That's two down. Now let's take after the stupid border wall. The delusional border wall.
*
Regarding Jennifer Anniston, the Duggars, or any present, past, or future Kardashians--Fiorella doesn't care.  She has a mild interest in Harry and Meghan, but a once-a-month update is enough. On the other hand--April the giraffe, that's news!

Fio and Husband have planted twenty-six boxwoods, two gardenias, three nandenas, and one ligustrum in the front garden this spring. They've also been shoring up the rocks lining the driveway, and once that project is finished, they'll move on to the side yard, also known as armadillo heaven.

Husband is watching a detective show on TV as Fio writes. So far, there have  been six corpses. This is not Fio's favorite kind of show. She knows people kill each other, but doesn't understand how they can bring themselves to do it.

Current Issues

Instead of devoting her day to writing yesterday, Fio devoted it to another hospital visit and her baby car, whose battery died at the hospital (irony), leaving Fio and Husband stranded. But all's well that ends well, and by the end of the day, everyone and everything was shipshape again.

It looks like the electronic underpinning of the country is shipshape again too--until the next time.

Such a frail system to live by. Fio has long warned that God may decide to turn off the electricity, but it never dawned on her that technology could be manipulated to turn upon itself. A deeper concern is why do people do things like this, deliberately destroy.

Overflow

Ah, the country life--the armadillos, the mud daubers, the sudden floods.

The army-dillos seem to have traveled on to fresher battle fronts, repelled by cayenne pepper, flashing lights, urine, or sheer boredom with such easy pickin's. The mud daubers are retreating from the front door after inhaling several good whiffs of insecticide. But the flood is another matter.

What flood, you say. The one that started when Fio, with Gretchen Jones-like confidence, opened one of the in-ground sprinkler system controls and turned it on for a short dousing of the north yard. Then she went inside and forgot about it.

Four hours later, she remembered. Husband was already in bed so she grabbed a flashlight and went outside, braved the wet, opened the control again and tried to turn off the water. Unfortunately, the flashlight wasn't much help and, operating mostly by feel, she pulled out something that shouldn't have been pulled out.

The water has been running all night now. As soon as it's light enough to see anything, Fio will try again. Pray for Fiorella.
