Pluses and Minuses

Disaster has struck Fiorella's cell phone. For some reason known only to itself--Jay, the Verizon guy couldn't begin to figure what was going on--the camera went black with white lattices. Jay told Fio that her pictures were safe in the cloud, but didn't tell her how she could obtain them. Fio has put out an SOS on FB, but so far, no takers.

On the plus side, Fiorella seems to have finally recovered from the Gunk. Yes, she knows she's been saying that for about a week now, but this time, it's for real...she hopes.

Another minus is Fio's baby car, which has been in the shop for a week now. The key got stuck in the ignition, which aparently means that the aforementioned ignition is giving up the ghost. What it will cost to replace the ignition is another minus.

Fio will try to be more jolly tomorrow.

Current Issues

Instead of devoting her day to writing yesterday, Fio devoted it to another hospital visit and her baby car, whose battery died at the hospital (irony), leaving Fio and Husband stranded. But all's well that ends well, and by the end of the day, everyone and everything was shipshape again.

It looks like the electronic underpinning of the country is shipshape again too--until the next time.

Such a frail system to live by. Fio has long warned that God may decide to turn off the electricity, but it never dawned on her that technology could be manipulated to turn upon itself. A deeper concern is why do people do things like this, deliberately destroy.

Car Trouble

Another adventure--Fio hit a police car as she was trying to drive across a divided street.  No one was injured, not even the chocolate Easter bunnies in the trunk, and the police car was only scratched--but Baby Car lost its entire front bumper, which means Fio will be without wheels for about a week. Thank goodness Husband's car is back home again.

This has been a bad month for automobiles at Casa Fiorella.

Catch-up Blog for Today

This blog is late because Fio's day was not what she expected. The neat list she composed last night turned out to be pure speculative fiction.

The first unplanned-for item was the hour-long trip across town to the doctor's office to get Husband checked out--with Fio driving his big sedan on the toll road. Yoicks! And when she and Husband tried to go home, another drama ensued: they couldn't unlock the car doors. Now, Husband knew the driver's-side door had stopped unlocking the night before, but what was wrong with the other ones? And how were they going to get back home? Break the windows?

In desperation, Husband pushed all the buttons on the control, and the car beside them lifted its trunk lid. Yes, Fio and Husband had been trying to break into the wrong silver car. Later, in the pharmacy, Fio dropped about thirty cards of various types on the floor when she was trying to pay for Husband's medication.

Somehow Fio made it through the rest of the afternoon with no further screw-ups, even though she was sandwiching about seven different errands into one frantic trip into Georgetown. But this time she was driving her own car, all its doors worked, and it was blue, not silver.
