Storm Center
Fiorella is totally fascinated by the book-of-the-month type roll-out of Trump tell-alls this year, not only because each one is more sensational than the last, but also because the publishing business is being fueled to overflowing by the antics of a man who doesn't read. The latest expose, Stormy Daniels' book, has Trump by the--uh--short hairs, and he can't deny she's seen "everything" without fully "revealing" himself on a Twitter post, which would get him banned forever.
*
As you know, Fiorella's been caught in a downward coil during the past two weeks, but this afternoon has been such a wonderful upturn that she was even able to catch up on her morning exercises--the plies while she counts to ten in Russian, the standing push-ups while she counts to ten in French, the piano practice, which she doesn't count out. She'll start lifting weights again tomorrow if the sunshine stays in her life.
*
Fio fell asleep mid-afternoon on the couch and, no doubt inspired by the Stormy Daniels paragraph she'd wriitten earlier in the day, woke up thinking about how nice it would be if some filthy rich guy paid her off, say, about $250,000, for keeping her mouth shut about something she didn't know she knew about. Oh, and she'd like the payoff to be under the table so she wouldn't have to pay taxes on it.

Trumpian Revelation
Fiorella and her friend talked over the fence last night about everything that's been going on in the neighborhood. Then Friend noticed Fio's ubiquitous DUMP TRUMP button and asked her if she hated Trump. Fiorella, taken aback, carefully expalined that she had been brought up to never use the word "hate," that she didn't hate Trump or anyone else, but that she was certainly opposed to him and his presidency.
Neighbor didn't seem too wild about Trump either, but she said she doesn't see an out because "Hillary is so sneaky and currupt."
Fio started to say something about Hillary being out of the picture now and that she'd been exonerated time after time after time, but settled for a mention of Robert Woodward's book, but Friend obviously didn't understand what Fio was talking about. Fio took the hint and dragged the convesartion back to neighborhood doings.
But as she walked back up the hill to home, she finally understood something that had escaped her heretofore--Trump's base, like Trump, doesn't read.

Theories About Nature, Arab Wars, Trump's Core, God, and Self-confidence
Fiorella has spent about an hour outside lately harvesting rocks from the acreage to shore up those brave soldiers already positioned around the driveway. It's heart-warming to see that so many rocks that that weren't ready to be pressed into service last years are volunteering this year. (Side news: mis rocas have come off their ego trip and are willing to be called piedras this year.)
*
All this 100-degree heat is making Fio understand why the Arab countries are always at war with each other.
*
Fiorella's theory is that Trump's basest core will stick with him even if he sets the White House on fire. It's like he's their dog, no matter that he's sent a neighbor kid to the hpspital.
*
Fio isn't going to post this on FB, but she thinks the Catholic church is more susceptible to pedophilia and like abuses because the clergy is considered to be on a higher level than laymen. Wise up, people--everyone is the same in God's eyes.
*
The secret to getting something done is to believe that you can.

Fighting the Good Fight
Lest anyone forget, for the last five days, Fiorella has been posting a reminder on FB of the 400 immigrant children still in custody. Each of the reminders is original and splashy.
(1) Okay, people. Have we lost focus on the children? Where are they? What's happening
(2) How long have the children been in jail now? When will they be released? Where will they go?
(3) THE CHILDREN (repeated as many times as allowed on FB)
(4) THE CHILDREN (This time surrounded by sobbing emojis)
(5) IT'S NEVER RIGHT

CHILDREN
This is the reminder for today:
While politicians bid and buy
And Donald sleeps
The children still in prisons lie
And Jesus weeps

Sorrowfully
Fiorella wrote this a year ago, and it bears repeating:
I thought that I would never see
A president as dumb as he
Putin's hand in his hand, Putin's ring in his nose--
He shall have riots wherever he goes

Fiorella's Ever-Annoying World
Fiorella's her new computer won't let her save revisions, and her cell camera won't let her transfer photos onto Facebook. Now do you see why she doesn't trust electronics?
*
It's offical--the daddy-long-legs spiders adore us, but it's not as cute as it sounds. They've built huge colonies on the ceiling and down the walls of the front porch.
*
If Trump is such a germaphobe, how come he was all over KJU?
*
What happened to that "cut" that Fiorella tried to transfer? Is la computadora working against Fio again? It only makes sense because, all of a sudden, the camera in her phone has revived itself. Apparently, Fio is allowed only one working electronic device at a time.
*
Fiorella is hoping the next big advance in IT technology is a self-feeding computer. She's tired of carrying an awkward roll of power cord with her when she has to go upstairs or move into another room.

Prediction
Humpty Trumpty has bet on a wall
Humpty Trumpty will have a great fall
And all the king's horses, all the king's men
Will refuse to put Humpty together again

What's on Your Mind, Fiorella?
Fiorella has been on a de-clutter binge for the last couple of years, sort of like when Monica scream-sings "Throw away, throw away!" in "The Medium." Right now, she's going through old, moldering pages from years ago--poems, drawings, short stories, newspaper clips, partially-written novels and theses, copies of tests she gave her students, and more. Any takers?

Sheldon and Amy's wedding was the highlight of Fio's television week. It was not only cute, sweet, and funny, but it took took her mind off Trump for a thirty whole minutes.
*
Fio is convinced that if you know how to say "hello" and "thank you" in ten different languages, the world is your oyster.
*
Sonia Dog's main goal in life is to love and be loved, which is one of the reasons that Fio loves her so much.
*
Mother would not approve of anything this outrageous, but Fiorella has moved the furniture around in the den so that it's all at a slant to the walls of the room. The rearrangement was necessitated by Husband's recliner being the only thing at a slant and driving Fiorella nuts.

The Circus Has Come to DC
Fiorella is fascinated with the latest turns the Mueller investigation has taken. First of all, Tump's own lawyers looked at Mueller's topic list, made up questions from it, then blabbed them to the world. Second, Trump's new lawyer, the same old Giuliani, took the situation into a whole new direction by proclaiming that Trump had repaid Cohen the $130K that Cohen had paid to Stormy Daniels to shut her up about her one-night liason with the orange one, contradicting Trump's claim that he never knew about the payoff. And, of course, earlier in the week, Trump had let the cat out of the bag in trying to distance himself from Cohen by saying he only used him for taking care of things like the Stormy Daniels situation.
Yeah, it's high times in DC right now! Stay tuned for the next exciting installment!

Dawns the Light, and It Is Dark
Probably what Fiorella dislikes most about Trump's administration is her loss of innocence. She never before realized there were such vile, hateful, mean, deceitful, corrupt people in the world.

Blast Furnace!
This has been an up and down week for Fiorella, and right now, she's raging. Her computadora is playing games again, pinging off, then correcting itself, then ping, ping, pinging again. Of course, that would have to happen just when Fiorella is trying to devote several hours a day to her book. And, of course, it would have to happen on a weekend. Come Monday, Dora will make another little trip to Dr. Click.
And also come Monday, Fiorella will be calling stupid Chase Bank again, which sent her a very dumb form letter because apparently it is so stupid that it is out of touch with anyone else in the banking industry. Fio does not have time for this nonsense. She has a book to finish off before she forgets what it's all about.
And sometime this coming week, Fio hopes her mail-order eyeglasses, which she has gone through it the seven gates of hell about, will arrive. Bless Son and his wife for guiding her through the process long distance. For the past four months, Fio has been driving with glasses that are no better than none at all. NEVER BUY GLASSES FROM EYEMART EXPRESS!
Of course, Fiorella is seething about the national news too. When will Trump be thrown out on his tail? When will all his cronies and hangers-on be thrown out? WHEN CAN WE HAVE A DECENT GOVERNMENT AGAIN?

Reflecting
Fio has long been asking, "But what if God turned off the electricity?" Little did she know the atheist Russians would beat Him to it.
*
Fiorella doesn't go along with the "saint" concept. We are all God's children and no one person is elevated above the others, although some sink lower.
*
Trump is a con-man, a huckster, a snake-oil salesman, and his basest base like that about him.

Thinking Things Over
The torn-open chocolate bunny boxes are piling up on the floor of Fiorella's car like an alcoholic's beer bottles.
*
There are too many people in this nation and the world who, for reasons unknown to Fiorella, want to be told what to think and what to do. Fio is not one of these people.
*
Remember "If you build it, they will come?" Only in the movies. In real life, all you end up with is a cargo cult. Advertisement up the wazoo is the only way to go.
*
Trump calls Maxine Waters a "low-IQ person," but we all know what that is code for.
*
One thing you can say about Trump's administration is that it's been a boon to defense lawyers.

Family Relationships
Have you noticed that Trump is never photographed with his youngest? That there are no father-son outings, no tramps around the links together, no companionable visits to the local fast-food hutch? It's like Melania is the only parent. Hmmmm....

When Fiorella had children, she expected them all to be little copies of her--with maybe a smidgen of their father thrown in. But they weren't. Insead they were themselves, and radically different from each other at that.
*
Did Fiorella tell you that on International Women's Day, Daughter posted a beautiful tribute to her on line and gave out Fio's address to the world? Your faithful correspondent cried, of course, and she's still glowing.

Talking Turkey
Let's talk turkey, specifically the big fat gobbler who wants to see a parade of toy soldiers marching down Pennsylvania Avenue, who needs a cheat sheet to remind him to say "I hear you," who's so discombobulated that the world is laughing at his recorded communications, who changes his mind every time he turns around, who wants to have a one-on-one with Kim Jong Un, the ruthless dictator or North Korea.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
KJU may be ruthless, but he's not stupid. He's been plotting his climb up the world's totem pole for years, and a certain unstable clown's ascendancy to the presidency of the United States gave him the perfect opportunity to pull off a very clever maneuver. First he teased about, then threatened, nuclear war. Turkey gobbler responded, of course, by trying to out-bombast him. Then, suddenly, KJU turned into a sweetheart, cuddling up with South Korea and sending athletes and pretty girls to the Olympics.
So now the TG plans to meet up with KJU and pull off one of his "winning deals," which usually involve stripping elderly people of their life savings or refusing to pay contract workers. And if you think he will be listening to people who know something about North Korea, think again. Remember, he's like a three-year-old--whatever more sober minds tell him to do, he'll do the opposite.
We are sunk.

Fiorella's March
Fiorella is exhausted. Trying to make the world a better place is taxing, especially with the administration we now have and what happened in Parkland. Fio wasn't surprised that Trump, whose brain is made of swiss cheese, did and said stupid things, but learning how utterly vile the current NRA is has knocked her for a loop. She would have understood if the organization's president had said how shocked they all were that one of their members had done such a heinous thing and that NRA would double down on responsiblity training from now on, but to malign the survivers? The students whose friends and classmates were alive one moment and dead the next?
And that is why Fiorella is trying to get a march going in Georgetown, the most conservative little town in central Texas.
