Mixed Bag

Just when Fio thinks everything is hunky-dory, her baby car refuses to turn over when she comes come back from delivering boxes to her INR nurse for a future move, her new computer decides not to let Fio "save," and her body decides to come down sick. On the other hand, friend Patricia has set up an electronic route which allows her and Fio to send story ideas back and forth, friend Jane/Juana has sent Fio a pack of Spanish cards that she can carry in her purse for odd moments, and she's recovered from whatever bug had her down. Guess it evens out, but Fiorella sure would like to get ahead of the curve.

Under the Weather

This is getting old. Fiorella has a cold again, her second one for the winter, and it's the same old, same old--sneezing, snorting, coughing, scratchy throat, runny nose, tiredness, headache, and chills.
The clean up from the Christmas feast is going to have to wait a day or two.
*
Fio can't belive the cold weather. Sure, she experienced it every winter when her family lived in Ohio, but below freezing in Texas? And they're predicting it for all week?
*
Meanwhile Fio's telenovela is drawing to its inevitable close. Julieta and Juan Pablo have adopted a little boy, Eugenio and Blanka have resolved years of anger, Gabriel and Daniela are headed toward the altar, Linda is softening her snarky ways for the sake of Bruno, Marisol and Xavi have declared their love, and Amalia, a big girl, has finally snagged muscle-builder Enzio. Now all Fio has to worry about is whether or not Julieta and Juan Pablo will be able to retain custody of their son, how much trouble Gabriel's filthy rich family will make about their son marrying a tomboy from a middle class family, the way Marisol's ex is trying to turn their daughter against Xavi, and Belen's depression about living alone now that Amalia will be moving in with Enzio.

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday was tremendous, but today is not starting off well. Fiorella discovered she had somehow destroyed a long, thoughtful essay on spanking and slapping children, then started feeling sicky when she sat by Husband's side as he awaited his turn at knee-replacemnt surgery. There was something in the air, maybe some kind of hospital sanitizer that was getting to her. And it didn't help that she'd been up almost all night because Sonia Dog did not appreciate being locked out of Husband's bedroom, where she usually sleeps. Fio tried to explain to doggie that the hospital had instructed him to sleep on clean, dogless, sheets, but Sonia did not understand. Just like Fiorella does not understand why she got struck with a multiple-paned migraine aura in Husband's waiting room, why she became so weak that she could hardly tow Husband's tote and her own tote to the car, why she felt like she was going to throw up all the way home, why she's been sitting on the couch like a wilting flower for the past three hours.

She's beginning to feel better now, though. This too shall pass.

Way Too Busy

Fiorella had been swimming against the tide lately. She can't find DVDs of El Color de la Pasion, DuoLingo turned out to be a time-wasting dud, she's exhausted from getting the family tax report ready for the CPA, there doesn't seem to be any way to salvage the GPS that Minnesota son gave her for Christmas, the complicated pedometer that Daughter gave her for Christmas is too complicated for mortal woman, the garage roof has started leaking, she's got to find a dry cleaner who will spruce up the baby crib mattress, and she's been sort of sick the past few days.

This is not the sort of life that the TV people live!

No Show

She'd like for us to get together
But Fiorella's under the weather.

Back Again!

Hello, everyone!  Welcome back into the world of Fiorella, who is recovering not only from an auto accident, not only from tripping over her own feet and skinning her left arm on the way down, but also from accidentally showering her laptop with an icebag she was filling to soothe said arm. Then she got sick.

But fear not.  After a bout of deep depression, intrepid Fio is on the upswing. Her baby car lost its front end, but Mazda and Allstate will fix her up; although her arm has swollen and turned purple, nothing is broken; her Toshiba fried, but Click Computer Repair was able to transfer all its contents to Husband's old Dell.  And she herself is on the mend from whatever flu or allergy was driving her crazy.

But please send kind thoughts Fio's way. The girl needs a break.

Honk!

It's almost Christmas so, reverting to her childhood, Fiorella is sick.  Not the scarlet fever or chicken pox of her youth, but a sinus infection--just enough to make her miserable.  She got up at four this morning and ran a hot bath to warm herself and press a hot washcloth against the side of her nose so she could breathe.  Today will be a chicken-rice-soup and hot-water-bottle day.

Still Sick

Fio's still sick
And has nothing to say
But please stay well
And have a great day

Sniff, Snort, Cough

My nose, my nose--
It glows, red as a rose--
It flows, like a garden hose--
And it blows blows, blows, blows, blows blows, blows,

Truth to tell, I am not well.
As a matter of fact,
I feel like hell.

Balance

Is it Tuesday already?

Fio's been far too busy, as usual.  Husband is sickish and the new-shelves-in-the-den debacle has not yet been settled.

The good news is that  Minnesota Son rewired all the electronics in the den and helped his father find a replacement recliner, that Fio's finally broken through the mid-story block that's had her writing and rewriting WHEN THE HEART SPEAKS for a month, that, at her request, Husband hid the remainder of the Halloween candy where she could never find it (she looked), and that the weather has turned, which means that Fio has to pull on  a jacket when she goes outside to haul in fallen tree limbs, chainsaw cedar, lay flagstones, or walk up to the road to get the mail.

All in all, it balances out

Time Out

This'll be quick
Fio's still sick

Medical Update

Fiorella doesn't feel good and she resents it.  She's too hot, then too cold, and she has no energy, and she keeps falling asleep (although she slept well last night), and her nose burns and it's runny too, and she's sneezing and coughing, and her brain's sorta fuzzy, and she's peering at everything through narrowed eyes.  Maybe it's post-Christmas let-down, maybe it's a cold, but it's not fair and she DOESN'T LIKE IT.

P.S.:  And. yes, Fio's had a flu shot.

Quarantine, unclean, unclean!
Fio's feeling icky
Do not breathe while you read this page
In case she turns out sicky.

Cough, Snort, Wheeze

Her dreams are bad,
And when she wakes,
Her throat is raw,
Her left ear aches,
Her mood is cranky
Her brain is soggy
Her body hurting,
Her movement loggy.

As you can guess,
Fiorella's sick,
And she darn well better
Get well quick.
