Here He Comes to Save the Day!

Fio's reporting in late this morning because (1) she got caught in a dastardly plot to invade her computer and (2) when she grabbed her laptop, jumped in the car, and turned the key, nothing happened.   She couldn't get any further than control-alt-delete, and she couldn't drive over to Click for help.

Stymied.

Then, with perfect timing, Austin son burst through the door.  He had come over to get Husband's signature on a legal document, but he also rescued Fiorella (control-alt-delete, then use task master to remove the offender), and now he's working on the car.

Our hero.

Drowned Child

Yes, Fiorella has seen the photo of the three-year-old Syrian boy in his blue shorts and red shirt, face down in the sand.  And she cried.  But there is so much more to it than this one child, to all the children, all the families.  Fiorella wants everyone rescued.  She wants everyone to have a safe place to live, a place where no one has to risk drowning in ocean crossings or smothering in the back of trucks or being shot by border guards.  People should not have to flee their homelands because of their race, sex, or religion.

But all Fio can do is try to spread the love.

Great Puppy Hunt

Fio and Husband are on the dog hunt again. They've decided on a mastiff because it's a large dog, has a good temperament, and its appearance will not remind them of any previous dogs, especially Wendy the Weimer. They would prefer a one-year-old female--old enough to be thoroughly housebroken, but young enough that Fio and Husband could enjoy a fair number of years with this notoriously short-lived breed. Unfortunately for Fio et al, rescue mastiffs are not only few and far between, but have been so terribly abused as to need lengthy medical treatments before they can be released for adoption.

So now begins the great puppy hunt. Yes, Fiorella and Husband are gearing up for the crate by the bed, the midnight forays into the backyard to maintain the housebreaking, and the gnawing on anything that is remotely gnawable.

But it's worth it.
