Drowned Child

Yes, Fiorella has seen the photo of the three-year-old Syrian boy in his blue shorts and red shirt, face down in the sand.  And she cried.  But there is so much more to it than this one child, to all the children, all the families.  Fiorella wants everyone rescued.  She wants everyone to have a safe place to live, a place where no one has to risk drowning in ocean crossings or smothering in the back of trucks or being shot by border guards.  People should not have to flee their homelands because of their race, sex, or religion.

But all Fio can do is try to spread the love.

Problem Solved

Fiorella was half-watching a special on climate change last night as she worked on revisions of WHAT THE HEART WANTS, and it seems to her that improved and less costly methods of the desalinization of sea water would allow us to remove enough water from the ocean to counter the rise in sea levels while also providing water for areas dealing with severe drought.

And, yes, thank you--Fio will accept the Nobel.

Fire, Water, and Whatever

Do not try to sell Fiorella beachfront property.  Fio doesn't trust the ocean--too much water.  Living on the edge of the ocean would be like camping on top of a smoking volcano.

Speaking of volcanoes, yesterday was Mother's birthday.  Mother was fiery, but Fiorella loved her very much and wishes she could have been more the person her mother wanted her to be.  She's still trying.

And on another subject, it's hard to take the high road when you've been dealt a low blow.
