Information Round-up

Like most people, Fiorella has several different aspects to her personality. The one she chooses to present on her blog is different from her Facebook persona. The heroines in books she has written only vaguely resembles her, and the Fiorella that her friends know is subtly adjusted to suit each one of them. Don't look at me like that--you do the same.
*
Fio is still finding gems among the moudering remnants of her lifetime of writing. Maybe she'll try to revive some of them.  Be prepared for a vampire story.
*
Sabrina's romance is moving along again. It's rough, but the story line is holding together. Pray that Fio isn't in a car accident, her computer doesn't break down, she herself doesn't get sick, her husband and kids stay well, and the stars stay in her corner.
*
Did Fio ever tell you that she filed a lawsuit against the last college she taught at? She lost, of course, which introduced her to the great fraud of the American justice system. At the time she was devastated, but now realizes it was for the best. Otherwise she would never been able to throw herself into full-time writing.

Today is Fiorella's birthday. Shhh--no one knows.

More Than You Wanted to Know About Fiorella

Fio has done many dumb things in her life, and sometimes those memories jmmy open the doors of the past and tell her what an idiot she has been. But still she marches on--what choice does she have?
*
Fio picked up one her romances and started paging through it. OMG--it's good! So good that she forgives herself for having her theater director say "practicing lines" instead of "running lines."

Fiorella has always known she was one who stood apart. Maybe because Mother preferred it that way, maybe because Fio was born that way. It doesn't matter. It is.

Fio has a full tank of false bravado that shakes and quivers when challenged. Maybe that's why she always felt safe on stage or behind a podium--because everything was choreographed and she knew her role.

Fio hopes that in the future, every unwanted fetus will be placed in a machine that will incubate it to term so it can be adopted by a loving family.

Five Fio Factoids

Fiorella planned to grow up tall, slender, graceful, dignified, and serene.  Guess who didn't hit her mark, mark, mark, mark, mark.
*
Fiorella's operates by priorities, lists, and systems. And yeah, she's a three-things-at-once kind of gal.
*
Fiorella likes people.  She's interested in them, especially the ones she doesn't understand.
*
Fiorella knows all those words but usually doesn't use them. Usually.
*
Fio has a deep need to communicate, to express herself. So far she's written books, short stories, poetry, essays, and reported for newspapers and magazines. She also maintains this blog and is active on Facebook. The girl just can't keep her mouth shut or her pen still.

OCD

Thank to TV, we now know all the jargon, and what we used to attribute to someone's personality, we now diagnose as a disorder. Thus, when Fio's friend dropped everything and moved out of state only to return four months later, Fio attributed her actions to ADD rather than impulsiveness.

But what about Fiorella, who plans every moment of her day?  Fio's friend may be impulsive, but she herself is compulsive.  Why else would anyone write a blog every day for more than seven years straight?

Look at Me!

How disappointing.  No one has ever questioned my driver's license.  And I've had a facelift and several photo-facials since the picture was taken.  And my hair has turned blonde.  And I've lost weight.

Is it my blinding beauty, my engaging personality, or do they figure I'm too old to do any harm?

Empty Heroes

Fiorella has noticed that certain people are always the heroes of their own stories, those little anecdotes we all tell each other about ourselves.  Most of us downplay our triumphs and, with a pang of sorrow, laugh at our failures, but some people twist their stories to makes themselves shine and everyone else look stupid.

Maybe it's protective bravado that's driving these people to shellac themselves with unmitigated success. Maybe it's plain old boorishness.  Whatever it is, Fiorella finds these people annoying and avoids them.

Multi-tasker

Fio has to pat herself on the back because she's a never-say-die kinda gal.  Sure, she has her ups and downs--and those downs can be twenty miles deep--but she's usually so sunny as to be irritating.  And she's always loaded with ideas--again, irritatingly so.  Those gallons of bath water she stored on the balcony last year in anticipation of the drought of the century this year are still there, probably breeding the killer bacteria of the century.

Yeah, Fio is always into something and has a notebook full of back-up assignments to boot.  Right now she's racing to finish the final run-through of the former Princess of Bosque Bend, running laundry upstairs, and pondering how to handle this blog while she's incapacitated after the hip surgery on Wednesday.

Please wish her well.  On all counts.
