Adventures with Spanish

Oh-oh. Fio has run into the bugaboo of learning el espanol, that one person's Spanish is not another person's Spanish.  She looked up her order on Google translator, then drove down to Golden Fried Chicken and tried to ask for six chicken wings en espanol--seis alitas, por favor--and was corrected. Wings are ales, at least at Golden Fried. Maybe in all of Tejas.

Not that the guy was rude or anything.  He really liked the idea that Fio was trying to learn Spanish and told her to keep on using it, that she would get better and better every day.  Uno hombre bueno.

Forever Home

Fio and Husband attended a neighborhood association get-together on Sunday afternoon, talked to a lot of people, ate good food, and had a great time.  Then yesterday, when they had parked on the road by the side of their dry creek to pick up rocks for the driveway, their neighbors to the south spotted them and came over to help load the trunk.  And, probably because Husband had turned on the car's hazard lights while he and Fio were so precariously parked, four neighbors who were driving by paused to ask if Fio and Husband were okay.

Fio wants to live here forever.

Adventure in Exploring

Fiorella's good day yesterday continued to be good, despite the fact that when she and Husband decided to walk three of their property lines, they got lost in the jungle behind the house for two hours plus, and would have been spending the night sleeping under cedars if they hadn't spotted a house through the trees and appealed for help from the nice woman who opened the door. Not only did Dana Gray invite them to rest on her front porch and give them bottles of water, but she also led them back through the forest to their own acreage, which turned out to be right behind her own spread.

Oh, and did Fio mention that Sonia had been along for the trek? Poor baby--she's still sleeping it off.
