Fiorella must have Eskimo genes somewhere along the line because she loves cold weather. It was 36 degrees outside yesterday afternoon when she put on her jacket and wound her way through the south woods down to the semi-dry creek to pull rocks (rocas) out from around a tree which she and Husband call, appropriately enough, the rock tree. She loaded the rocks into the garden cart, pulled it several yards uphill, and laid the rocks alongside the driveway (estacionamiento) to prevent washouts. Then she took the cart back down to the creek again and started pulling out more rocks, hurling them up toward the cart for this afternoon's pick up.
Reviewing the day, Fio is thinking (1) that she must have been a laborer in her past life because she LOVES tossing rocks, and (2) that if it were summer, there is no way in the world she could have been dragged out of the house.

Brrrrrr
Has Fiorella told you how much she enjoys cold weather? She loves breathing cool air as she walks around the driveway, loves the fire burning in the grate every evening, loves to snuggle up in bed with a blankets and a comforter over her. Of course, this is cold weather in Central Texas, and it's of very short duration. Fio might feel differently if she lived in--say--Minnesota.

Put Asunder by an Air Conditioner
The upstairs air conditioner is out, and the new one won't get installed till next week, which means Fio, who likes to sleep cold, is bedding down on the couch in the den for the duration while Husband, who actually likes the warmer temperature, is staying upstairs. Sonia Dog is rotating between them.

Seasonal Euphoria
If you run into a woman rushing around the supermarket with a big smile on her face, c'est moi, Fiorella, and c'est her time of year, Especially in HEB.
Fio loves the cold weather outside, the noisy crowds of people inside who are buying the store out as if Georgetown is about to freeze over, the HEB elves and fairies setting up Christmas displays and restocking everyday shelves with holiday items. She loves the way the air seems brighter, more exciting--electric, even. And she loves the way chocolate-covered Santas and gold-wrapped chocolate coins suddenly appear, as if conjured by a Christmas magi who was passing through.
The Christmas season is in full swing--ENJOY!

Cold Season
Yes, Virginia, there is a Fiorella Plum, but she currently resides on the couch with two throws over her and a box of Kleenex beside her. Needless to say, her Grand Plan to finish chapter two by New Year's is down the drain. On the other hand, she's under less pressure now because Divine Liza persuaded Forever Yours to give Fio more time to write the second book--it's due in June rather than April, Whew!
Please send healing thoughts winging Fio's way. Achoo!

Early February
So, this is what cold weather is like. Purple clouds, still and scattered, like islands in a mild blue sea of a sky. Meanwhile the sun is shining so brightly I have to feel for my sunglasses on the carseat beside me.Yet the wind is blowing so cold that when I got out to gas up the car, my fingers felt like they were going to freeze off.
I love it. What a wonderful day.
