Personal News

The only reason Fiorella switched to Gmail is that Microsoft quit supporting Windows Live Mail, and she's been in trouble ever since. Windows was so beautifully intuitive, and Gmail doesn't make any sense at all.  Far too often, Fio ends up scurrying to Click Computer Repair or friend Patricia to untangle the electronic webs she's woven trying to figure things out for herself. GRRRRR!

Fio is now officially addicted to La Piloto, another telenovela. El Color, which she still wants to find a DVD set of, was a romance pure and simple, but La Piloto is a fast-moving action movie. Everyone carries guns, even Yolanda, the heroine, who, yes, is in the drug trade, although ultimately, she's going to end up in the loving arms of Dave Mejia, the stalwart, uncorruptible DEA agent. Right now she's engaged in escaping from the arms of Colonel Santamaria, who is chasing down drug dealers, including her former boyfriend, John Lucio, who's fallen under the influence of Zulima, a  practicing bruja, cigars and all.

Fio finished laying the last rocks in the north driveway yesterday. Now to check out the south driveway to see what needs to be shored up. A rocker's work is never done.

Cynical Fio

Pakistan--fascinating how outraged the Paskistanis are--not that bin Laden was living in their midst, but that the US took him out without consulting them first.
*
Lindsay's reading a good script now. Probably setting the stage for her upcoming probation-breaking trial. Sorry to be cynical, but this leopard' spots, etc.
*
Fio thinks Hackabee was wise in deciding not to run for the Republican nomination. The candidates are going to be tearing each other to shreds this year, each one more vicious than the next, and a dog fight within a kennel produces no winners. It all started when the GOP, desperate to undermine Obama, started pandering to the Tea Party. It was a bad bargain with a million Rumplestiltskins, and now the party is stuck with it.

Travails of Travel

Fiorella was completely organized when she left the house, which meant, of course, that within fifteen minutes, she couldn't find her driver's license.
*
Because of some medical problems, Fiorella is patted down by hand by airport security rather than being put through the magnetic imaging machine. The security guards always emphasize that they are patting down Fio's more feminine parts with the BACKS of their hands. Fio, who is past prime time, doesn't care if they feel her up. She just wants to get through the line and on the plane.
*
Fio knows Husband truly loves her because he kept the newspapers for her so she could catch up on the comics when she got home. And she didn't even ask him to.

Homey on the Range

Fiorella's essential equipment pack would include fingernail scissors and a hair dryer. Not for cutting her fingernails or drying her hair, but for all the other million and one uses she puts them to.
*
After years of accumulating everything under the sun, Fio and Husband are now trying to de-cumulate. Of course, that doesn't include their ever-growing rock collection. Yes, their children will inherit an absolutely valueless assortment of flint, pretty stones, and interesting limestone shapes.
*
We're stacking the firewood and Husband is building fires in the fireplace again, to Fiorella's delight. She must have been a firebug in a past life.

J&K Postscripts

I heard that Jon recently consulted with a rabbi and announced he is half Jewish. The Korean half?
*
Jon and Kate were well-matched. She's anal and he's an a******.
*
Maybe there's hope. I hear he's gotten rid of the ear studs. Now if Kate would just stop tanning and doing weird things to her hair.

R.I.P.

I think we should all try to leave the world a little better for our having been here, because so many people seem to be leaving it a lot worse.
***
Speaking of people with one foot in the grave, Hugh Hefner's habit of wearing comfy clothes appeals to Fio, although she suspects his trademark pajamas are accommodating a colostomy bag. And that those three vacant-eyed bimbos are closet RNs.

I look in the glass at a face of a thousand wrinkles. Note to self: contribute magnifying mirror to Goodwill.

I wouldn't mind getting older if it would also entail getting stronger, more agile, and better looking.
