Questions about Politics, Health, Weather

Have you ever thought about how much Donald Trump resembles Kim Jong-un?
*
HIV, Ebola, now Zika--no sooner is one threat contained than something else speeds down the pipe. God, are you trying to tell us something?

It's going to be an ideal day--cool in the morning, up to seventy degrees at noon, then edging down to the fifties at night, but where is my snow?

Christmas Deja Vu

Yesterday morning the weather forecasters predicted wind gusts, possibly light rain, which meant Fio's hairdo would either be extra-fluffy or she'd look like a drowned rat.

Fio and Husband carted the trash bags out out to the container in the dark last night. Even in freezing weather, you gotta keep up with things if you don't want to end up as a star of a Hoarders episode.
*
Fiorella turned on the Christmas tree lights to end the day.  It seemed appropriate--the ground was covered with patches of ice.  All we needed was a reprise of the rooftop sleigh bells.

HAPPY FRIDAY MORNING--IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT!  Fio is rushing from window to window for the best view. Ooh--even in her heavy winter robe, she's c-o-l-d.  It's hot chocolate for breakfast! Thank you, Climate Change!

Over

The day has warmed, the wind is still
Yet on a north-facing windowsill
Is piled still a bank of snow,
Lone remnant of a day ago.

Ou sont les neiges d'antan?

Snowed In

Fiorella woke up late this morning, almost 8:30, opened her eyes and looked out the window wall of the bedroom. There was white stuff on the tree branches and the balcony railing--manna, a fungus? NO! IT WAS SNOW!

Fio's heart leaped up.

The weather forecasters had predicted snow for yesterday, but when it didn't fall, Fio lost faith. Maybe fifteen flakes during the night, she thought. And the snow did fall during the night, but there was about an inch and a half of white over everything this morning, and it was gorgeous.

As Fio watched, the sun started coming up, sparkling the snow, but also melting it. Fio rushed upstairs and pried Husband out of bed to come take pictures. The snow won't last past midday, but the pictures will last forever.

Fio's Joy

It's 7:30 a.m. and the snow's still here, despite the rising sun. Fio is overjoyed. Maybe vestiges will still be there tomorrow, under the protective canopy of the woods surrounding her house. While they last, they will be Fio's secret treasure.
