Fiorella has been going through pages she wrote many, many years ago and these are a few of the gems she unearthed:
Sometimes nonsense is the only thing that makes sense.
*
Children are not production models.
*
Creativity is a turn of mind that cannot be taught or tested, and, by its very nature, is inimical to the classroom.
*
I see what I see and say what I say
If you don't like it, go away
*
Her teaching manifesto: Yes, I want my students to master the subject matter, to write well, and to develop a love of literature, but I also want them to be better human beings for having been in my classes. They are the means by which I hope to change the world.

Back to the Womb
How I love my soaker tub
This is how it must have been
Swimming in my mother's womb
Before the pain of life set in
This is how it must have been
Swimming in my mother's womb
Before the pain of life set in

Electronics Can Be Evil!
Fiorella is angry. Fiorella is mad
Because Isadora is acting bad
Or maybe it's not the computer at all
But Windows 10, it's natal install
Whatever the problem, it better go
Beacuse your Fio's about to BLOW!

Morning Poetry
Another of Fiorella's favorites, by one of her favorite poets, Robert Browning:
Pippa Passes
The year's at the spring,
The day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his heaven--
All's right with the world!
Fio especially enjoys the rhyme pattern: a-b-c-d-a-b-c-d

Morning Prayer
For the new day, I thank you
For the good night, I thank you
For boundless hope and endless memory
For what once was and what is yet to be
Thank you, God.
(Obviously, Fio's feeling better.)

Easy Morning
Sunday morning, sleeping late
Didn't wake up till after eight.
Winter sky is cold and gray
Think I'll stay inside today
Drink hot chocolate, pet the dog,
Read a novel, write my blog,
Lie around and appreciate
Sunday morning, feeling great
Didn't wake up till after eight.
Winter sky is cold and gray
Think I'll stay inside today
Drink hot chocolate, pet the dog,
Read a novel, write my blog,
Lie around and appreciate
Sunday morning, feeling great

Carry On!
Today Fiorella will be running late--
Must be out of the house by eight
So drink your coffee, please don't wait.

Weimers Rule!
Our Wendy is a sweetie dog
Who understands her place--
On pillow soft, on couch or bed,
Being patted on the head,
Lazing on the bathroom rug
Or licking at my face.
