Dark Romance

Fio has hit a dramatic turning point in her novella now, when the hero realizes he is irrevocably and forever in love.  Meanwhile, the heroine's black moments are about to commence.  Ah, yes--dark romance.  Sturm und Drang.  It's the only way Fio can write.

Forty-eight Hour Day Needed

Fiorella is being pulled in too many directions.  She wants to finish off her novella and edit her short stories.  She wants to work on the house and the yard.  She wants to refresh her languages.  She wants to paint again. And she wants to play the piano and write more songs.

Fio needs a clone--half a dozen of them, in fact.

Up, Up, and Away!

Hold on tight because Fio is on an upswing, probably because of friend Pat's good vibes.  She practiced piano yesterday, finished off all the income tax tallies, concocted a stand-up cone that now holds up a photo for her renovated shelves, left messages for all the people she was supposed to contact, and attended a neighborhood meeting.  Then--wonder of wonders, she integrated the critiques into her novella.

And today she'll (gulp) go through the Allstate information and consider her options.

Moving Forward

Yesterday's political news had Fiorella so depressed that she couldn't write.  Nothing to do but go to bed early and pray for strength.  About an hour later, she turned on her bedside light, constructed a day-by-day outline of her novella and wrote out the hero's timeline.

Thank you.
Amen.

Catching You Up

As Fio walked Sonia Dog up the drive this morning, she (Fio, not Sonia) spotted something orange in the woods, and Fio being Fio, she delivered Sonia unto Husband's hands and went back up the driveway to check it out.  A copperhead?  Her copperhead?  Alas, no.  It was a Reese's Pieces wrapper.

Fiorella is happy.  She is finally putting it all together--her novella, that is. She's got the plot all worked out, the high drama sexplosions situated, and  a quarter of the book actually written, Tomorrow she'll cut and paste everything into the right sequence, then start rolling everything together.  She's planning for it to be finished by the end of the month. Or so she hopes.

Fio doesn't know about you, but she's getting tired of The Donald.  It was sort of fun to follow him from train wreck to train wreck at first, but now his act is growing whiskers.  Maybe he could start turning cartwheels or, gosh, being nice.

Venting

Scream, scream, scream,  crash, bang!  Fio is having another breakdown.  Anger and frustration is the name of the game.  The bank has her credit score wrong, and she wants to sell more books.  After stomping around for a while last night, she sat down and emailed Friend Claire for information about promotions, then emailed the bank about the incorrect credit score.  This morning she awoke with a promotion idea or two herself.

And, on the side, she's working on the house and writing the third book, the novella.

Pray for her.  She prays for you.

Interconnected Endeavors

Fio is one-third through with her jigsaw puzzle, which is quite exhilarating.  One at a time, the pieces are finding their designated homes--even though Fiorella has yet to locate two straight-edged pieces that make up the outside edge.

And, one sentence at a time, Phillipa' story is coming together too--although Fio has a fair number of XXXXs, which represent missing words, to supply.  To bring you up to date, the hero and heroine have had a couple of near misses and should be hitting the jackpot in the chapter Fio is working on now.

When Fiorella finishes the jigsaw, she will admire it for a couple of days, then put all the pieces in a bag to donate to The Caring Place.  When Fiorella finishes the novella, she will admire it for a couple of days, then ship it off to her agent for consideration.  Or maybe she'll keep it at home and publish it herself.

We'll see.

Love, Fio

Congratulate Fiorella.  She's almost halfway through her novella.  Of course, that's a week behind the schedule she set, but she didn't allow for that day spent cleaning up the house for Mother's Day, the sugar high from the Mother's Day cake (YUM!) and the sugar withdrawal hangover the next day.   But novellas come and go.  Mother's Day memories are forever.

Thank you to my darlings.

Paralysis

Fiorella has the urge to write, but she can't decide which path to follow.  Should she finish up Lolly's story, the half-written romance that readers liked but her agent and editor vetoed?  How about her third Bosque Bend idea--which could also be written as a novella?  Or Leah's story, which she's written a couple of pages of?  Or a revision of one of those old contest winners? Every time Fio makes a decision, she rethinks herself and end up closing the computer,

Which Path?

As per yesterday's epistle, Fio spent most of the day rereading one of her half-finished literary efforts--Lolly's story, for those of you who've read WHAT THE HEART WANTS, which is Laurel's story. Lolly's tale is a good story, Fio thinks, but would take her a couple of months to finish off, months which might be better spent writing a novella and getting it out quick.  A novella for which Fio has no plot whatsoever in mind.

Hmmmm.  Stay tuned for a decision.
