Friendship of Fiorella

Fiorella is a fast friend and a mild-mannered enemy.  She likes people so it's easy to become her friend.  And she'll stick with you through gaffes and disagreements, as she hopes you will with her.  But she will not accept betrayal. Not that she will wreak vengeance--Fiorella would rather move forward than look back--but she will discharge you from her universe.

My Christmas Tree

Fiorella has hauled the Christmas tree out of the garage and started putting it together, first joining the three sections of its metal stem, then hooking the branches into its color-coded slots.  She and Husband purchased the tree at HEB for $100 in the days before pre-lit ones existed, and Husband has urged Fiorella to dump the old lady.  But Fiorella clings onto her.  She's big, at least five feet across, and tall, about seven feet, and her metal branches are strong enough to hold anything Fio--an infamous over-decorator--drapes on them.

So Fiorella straightens out all the tangled fronds and hopes for the best.  She doesn't want to replace her Christmas tree.  It's become a member of the family.

Sociopathology Revisited

Sociopaths are charming, clever, and have a wicked sense of humor.  They woo you with compliments, profess their loyalty, and say you are their best friend--until, of course, someone better comes along.

They murder the soul.

But forgive them.  They can't help it.  They were born that way--without a conscience.

Big Bird

According to one of those silly tests on FaceBook, when it comes to Sesame Street, Fiorella is a Big Bird--naive as the day is long and far too trusting. The accusation is true.  If you want to tell a whopping big lie, tell Fio.  She'll believe you because you're her friend.  And she'll back you to the hilt too because she's loyal as Greyfriars' Bobby.

All of this means that Fio gets burned at regular intervals, but she'd rather have it this way than be an Oscar the Grouch.
