The Great Art Heist

Has Fio told you she is a born artist?  That she studied oil painting for five years? That she is a professional portrait painter? That she designs her own Christmas cards?  That she can draw just about anything she sees?

Fiorella was recently invited to participate in a parishioner art display at her church and delivered three church-appropriate items to the required place by the required time--an oil painting, a framed poster, and a montage of Christmas cards.  They never got hung.  The abstracts that other people had contributed were up on the wall, but her work was nowhere to be seen.

Fio was shocked, gobsmacked, knocked for a loop.  What had happened to her art?  Lost, stolen, trashed?  No one seems to know.

This story will continue.

Having the Eye

Fiorella is fascinated by the way the right accent piece can pull a room together.

Every room in Fiorella's house is painted white and decorated in shades of red and blue.  Downstairs in the den, it's maroon and blue, which shows off the Persian carpets Husband inherited from his mother.  And in the master bedroom upstairs, it's peach and aqua, which works well with the white, white master bedroom and en suite. But neither of the rooms really came together until Fio added a large maroon pillow to the couch and placed a multi-folded red-orange Indian blanket across the bench at the foot of the bed.

Fio's inner artist glows with appreciation every time she looks at the maroon pillow and red-orange Indian blanket, but Sonia Dog drags the pillow off onto the floor, and Husband piles clothes on top of the blanket.

Such is the fate of an artist.

Fiorella's Careers

Fiorella was a star debater in junior high, but something of a dud in high school, which turned out not to matter because, along the way, she discovered that she didn't like to argue.  Thus she eliminated law as a future profession.  She was a good actress too, but didn't have the time for it.  She'd been born with a talent for art, but the starving artist cliche is a reality so she dropped out of that scene and started teaching.  The money was regular, and Fio liked her students, but the whole time--in fact, most of her life--Fio was writing poems, stories, and novels.  So now, Fio's major employment is writing novels, at which she has been semi-successful.

Wish her well.

Fio Confesses

All the aspects of Fiorella come out in her heroines.  Laurel plays the piano.  Lolly plays tennis. Moira is an actress.   Sigrid is an investigative reporter.  Ann is an artist.  Tally's vampire heritage is Eastern European.

Of course, Fio is not up to Laurel's level musically, she hasn't played tennis since junior high, her acting career was amateur, she couldn't make a go of journalism or art, and she has an admixture of German and English that would make her ineligible for vampirehood.

But this writing stuff is going great guns!

Fiorella Ponders

Part and parcel of being an artist is that appearances are very important.  Fiorella can't walk through a  room without tweaking a pillow and can't walk into the garage without sighing in sorrow.
*
Fiorella figures our atoms are recycles, but that there's something more--a spirit, a soul--that lives forever
*
Your Fio was born with her skin on inside out, a vulnerability which makes for a very good poet, but a troubled psyche.  She has her ups and downs.
*
Fiorella forgives those who trespass against her, but she does not forget.  It's a matter of self-protection.
*
The only realities are life, death, and dinner.
