Mob Rule

Fiorella had a horrible nightmare Thursday night, and she thinks it was inspired by the savagery of the Republican convention. You know something has gone terribly wrong when Ted Cruz in the only vestige of civilization in a room.  If this is what Donald Trump can do to the GOP, just think of the havoc he could wreak on the nation--and the world.

Snappy Snippets

Personal: Hot weather innervates, cold weather invigorates.

Trends: Mary Pickford curls are all the rage now, an example of the repetition of fashion.

GOP Convention: Where are all the hippies when you need them?

Happy Fourth!

Let's fire off a couple of Fourth of July rockets in the direction of the GOP presidential candidate. Yes, Fiorella is an unabashed Trumpie junkie. In fact, he's her favorite comedian.  She rolls on the floor with laughter at every jewel of jackassery that falls from his lips.

Trump Factoids

The GOP is trying to control Trump's spasmodic outbursts by harnessing him to a teleprompter, which he has long been critical of Hillary for using, but Fio predicts that won't last long.  The Donald's ego will break through.

Trump is all about appearances. In his mind, no woman is worth holding office unless she's won a beauty pageant.  In fact, Fio suspects he judges all women by that same standard.
***
Trump doesn't want a good, solid VP.  He wants a lackey. Maybe that Corey guy would do.

Totally Offensive

Donald Trump has an interesting life strategy--all offense, no defense.  That means he isn't reminding his fans of his sins by repeating his foes' accusations, and that he doesn't have to bother with explaining anything.  He does not defend.  He attacks.  Trump is a destroyer, not a builder. Look what he's done to the Republican party

That Time of the Month

Maybe Bush and Rubio shouldn't have come down so hard on Donald Trump during that debate on Saturday night--he might have been having his period.

Debate and the Day

Against her better judgment, Fiorella watched part of the Republican debate last night. It was awful--like tigers in a cage fighting over a zebra leg.  Maybe Trump had gotten some new poll figures we haven't heard about, but he was more bloated and grumpy than usual, while Jeb and Rubio seemed knowledgeable and well-reasoned. Fio especially enjoyed the way the two Floridians joined forces against Trump's rude attack on the Bush family.  Meanwhile, Cruz was relatively low-key, like a tarantula lurking in the background waiting for the others to destroy themselves, and Carson, as usual, was out in left field.  Actually, Ohio governor Kasich, whom Fio had never noticed before, came across as the only grounded guy on the stage.  Hmmmm.....

Anyway, politics aside, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Nostradama Fiorella's Pognostication

The campaigning for the GOP nomination started way too early and the candidates have worn out both themselves and their welcome.  Fio predicts that in the last couple of months before the July convention, a dark horse will emerge and win the day.

Trumping His Horn

Now for the comedy relief--Fiorella searches through the news every day for the latest Donald Trump utterances. The sad thing is, though, that because the country is indulging itself in a nostalgic wave of deliberate and obstinate ignorance, he could actually end up as the GOP candidate.

Fiorella understands.  We live in a hard world, and it's easier to think of the Mexican government as deliberately leaking immigrants across the border to sabotage us.  And to think of women as uppity underlings.  And to think of the moon as being made of green cheese.

But sooner or later, the child in us has to give way to the adult.  Let's hope it's when we mark our ballots.

Sense vs. Santorum

Ah, the political season--Fiorella's favorite fodder.

According to columnist George Will, Rick Santorum perceives himself as appealing to "the approximately seventy percent of Americans who don't have a college degree and are competing with the unskilled workers who are coming into this country," which is why Santorum proposes cutting legal immigration by twenty-five percent.

First of all, is Santorum is so stinkin' rich that he thinks seventy percent of Americans are competing to cleans sewers?

Second, how obtuse, simplistic, and out of touch can you get?  A college degree is no longer--if it ever was--a sine qua non to financial success.  In fact, with the way college loans are oppressing current-day graduates, the degree-holders may NEVER get out of debt.

Third, how insulting can you get?  Anyone who's wise in the ways of computers, even if he/she hasn't graduated from high school, can make a mint. Then there are all sorts of occupations--writing, the trades, entrepreneurship, the arts--that can at least pay the bills, and sometimes a lot more.  And Fiorella doubts that any of these people so employed feel threatened by "unskilled workers."

Fourth, Santorum's solution to this non-problem--cutting legal immigration by twenty-five percent--is laughable.  Why does he think legal immigrants are all aiming at low-level jobs? Those jobs are going to illegal immigrants, who are grateful for every opportunity they can get and  work hard to earn their places in the land of opportunity.

More power to them.  They're a lot brighter than Rick Santorun.

GOP Race

It's not news
That Ted Cruz
Will certainly lose--
He's so far to the right
That he's out of sight
A troglodyte
So why the fight?

Maybe because he likes the limelight, maybe to keep his senatorial seat safe, maybe to make a run for VP.
We'll see,

Who's Got the Button?

Gingrich's staff decided to bail
Palin's haunted by old email
Paul and Giuliani are yesterday's news
Bachmann's expressed idiotic views
Pawlenty wants to aid the rich
Romney's got a healthcare pitch
Huntsman's unknown, Cheney's a grump
Huckabee's quit and so has Trump
And then there's Perry--
That's scary
