Dear Diary

What happened to you yesterday, Fiorella? Well, first I learned that friend Paula and brother Bill are sick. Then I accidently left my purse at home and had to bum my Starbucks cookie and milk off friend Evelyn, and when I got home, I learned that Husband had called our doctor about some disturbing symptoms and she'd told him to go to the ER. Three hours later, he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. Oh, and when I was running around doing errands, I learned that the place my critique group usally meets in is being renovated and won't be available for at least a month.
*
Fio sent the first 100 pages of Lolly's story off to a couple of friends to look at. She's especially concerned about anachronisms because this story was written six years ago and electronics have changed things a lot since then.
*
She's also sending friend Evelyn a few excepts from the biblical book of Ruth to back up her reference to Ruth and Boaz. It's a Cinderella story, but Ruth has to make the first move.

Tirade

And again Fio's going to cut loose on the Duggars and other TV actors who pretend to be Christians. The hypocritical women who talk about modesty, then wear maternity tops so tight that their belly buttons show, who talk about not "defruading" men by looking sexy, then glamorize themselves with seductive hairstyles and come-hither smiles, who see no other role for themselves and their daughters than adoring their husbands, no matter what rats they are, and being available sexually. The males who talk Jesus, but do not love His flock, who do not provide their children with good educations, who do not feed the poor or aid the stranger. Who are intolerant of others and have rewritten the Bible in their own images.

Self-delusion, deliberate deception, or the devil's work?

Rhetoric Alert

The hallmark of a false prophet is speaking in the cadences of the King James translation of the bible.  Those "Lo and beholds" were faky even in the 1400's, designed to roll off the tongue and resound in the ear like, well, the voice of God.

Fiorella suspects the true voice of God is quieter--and more intelligent.  The psychotic rant against Obama she recently read accused him of everything from the steeple on down and predicted God's wrath on the populace and the planet because of him. Actually, Fio thinks God is not that interested in what happens regarding American politics, and she doubts if He considers the United States the linchpin of the world.

Come on, people--put your thinking caps on.  If someone talks crazy, he is.  Forward.

Genesis Revisited

Did you read the newspaper report about the two-day-old beluga whale that was airlifted to an aquarium and is now being fed by a stomach tube until it can learn how to suck a bottle?   In the same section of the paper, Fio read about a drone killing fifteen suspected militants in Pakistan.  Interesting.   We save whales, but kill each other.

Okay, Fio understands that the strike was pre-emptive, that the militants would have wiped out the whole countryside if they'd had a chance, but still, she'd rather we humans all just got along with each other and devoted our energies to saving baby whales.

And, by the way, that's another thing that separates us from the beasts: they don't take care of us, but we seem impelled to take care of them.

Just like the Biblical injunction.
