A Good Day, A New Friend, A Medical Step Forward

Your girl has had a pretty good day so far. Son L drove her to HEB and she did her shopping--although, of course, she knew that the minute she set foot back at the house, she'd remember several items she'd planned to fill her cupboard with earlier. That's just the way the ol' ball bounces.

Fio pretty much has her HEB memorized now, but she had a new experience toady: running into the same sweet-looking older woman weat every turn. We each nodded, smiled, and excused ourselves, and then continued on our way, only to run into each other again which, of course, in the ways we were brought up, meant that we became more and more familiar with each other and eventually introduced ourselves. Our names didn't ring bells in either of us, even when Fiorella invoked the name of her late father-in-law, who was Austin's favored news broadcaster back in the day, so your girl decided that this sweet lady in pale blue was just a gift from God, which we all need to encounter every now and then.

Back to earth, if you're interested, Fiorella bought a banana, an apple, a box of Coca Cola--which is great for clearing that her throat, a long loaf of uncut bread, cookies, three candy bars, a gallon of milk and a bag of walnut halves. (She still has a cache of red meat left her last visit to the store.)

Oh, Fio almost forgot to tell you the fabulous news--at least to her. Although she's not entirely across the lump, she doesn't wake up in in the middle of the night gritting her teeth in carpal tunnel pain anymore. THANK YOU, GOD and THANK YOU, MODERN MEDICINE!

Now to replace that bum left knee of hers, and Fiorella will be all healed up...for now, at least.
