Irony

The very second Fiorella decided to take a long walk, the rain started up again.

Why is is Fio looks better in the  bathroom mirror than in her selfies?
*
Not that Fio's getting any older, but everything about her that supposed to be tight is loosening up--and vice versa.

Grumpy-pants

Fio awoke this this morning invigorated by a full night's sleep and planned her day as she lay drowsing in bed.  First, she'd take the dog--and herself--on a double walk around the drive.  then she'd read the newspaper and check out the internet.  Then she'd start in Phillipa's story again, which is going great guns since Fio backed it out of the blind alley she'd written herself into.

She walked down the stairs to a cold, sunny day, her favorite kind of weather, leashed Sonia dog, and started up the driveway.  But Sonia was more interested in investigating the premises than walking so Fiorella ushered her back in the house and called out to Husband to unleash her.

Fio's solo walk was great, but when she got back home, she learned the newspaper still hadn't been delivered, and looking, through the mail she'd picked up on her trek around the driveway, she learned that Chase Bank is STILL on their case about hazard insurance, of which Fio and Husband have several times submitted proof.

To top it off, Fio's laptop wouldn't fire up--and just when she had several clever ideas revolving in her head.

Fio is not as invigorated as she was when she woke up.  In fact, she's a grumpy-pants.

Addicted to Writing

Three cheers for Fiorella!  She sent the manuscript in to her editor ten minutes before it was due.

Yes, the monkey is off her back.  She can go eat breakfast.  She can pick up the six-hundred some pages of manuscript (two copies of the book) on the floor of her office and stuff them into trash bags. She can sing, she can dance, she can take her dog on walks, she can visit with her friends, she can pretend to be human again.

She can start another book.

Got All That?

Fiorella took Sonia up the north driveway for her morning walk, holding the leash tightly and staying alert for deer since Doggie's bolted the leash twice already this week.  Spotted a pedestrian walking up from the dip at the south edge of the property and turned around before Sonia saw him, walking her back down the north drive again and going up the south drive.  No deer around, pedestrian was out of sight--whew!  Went around the road to the mouth of the north driveway, heading towards the house, and spotted a deer posed ten feet inside the park beside the drive.  Turned Sonia around again and walked her up the north drive to the street, crossed to the south driveway and got her back to the house without incident.

And Husband wonders why Fio always carries extra treats.

Oh, Deer!

Grab the Neosporin--Fiorella had an adventure.

She was walking around the driveway, accompanied, as always, by the faithful Sonia. Fio is proud to say that Doggie has become inured to the sounds of riding mowers and neighborhood construction, and even tolerates passing cars and the yammering of next-door dogs.  In fact, Fiorella was promising Sonia a second lap around the driveway when a spotted fawn leaped up beside them and rocketed away.

Sonia was on it in a flash, jerking the leash around Fiorella's wrist so strongly and suddenly that all Fio had time to do as she slammed down into the grass off the driveway was think "uh-oh."  Luckily she fell on her left hip, not the replacement one, but she did have to lie on the ground. breathing hard, for a few minutes before getting up.  Injuries were slight--a few cuts and abrasions and an angry prickling that made her wonder if she'd landed in an ant bed.

Sonia soon came  bounding back, full of the joy of the chase, looked up at Mommy, and smiled.  Mommy did not smile back, and Sonia did not get her second loop around the driveway.

Hip Hooray!

Fiorella, in preparation for the RWA national conference is taking walks around her 190-linear yard driveway not just once a day, but three times a day, and she's doing just fine.  Of course, she'll be stopped at the airport security gate because of the metal in her hip, but that's a small price to pay for being able to walk with ease.  At the New York RWA conference two years ago, she was in constant pain, and three months before the surgery, she couldn't even walk 80 yards up to the mailbox on the road.

Hip replacements work.
