The Robot World

Fiorella heard on the news last night that robots are being developed which "we won't be able to tell from ourselves if we passed them in the hall."  A gaggle of people were protesting the announcement--as if that ever helped--and a suave suit reassured the television reporter that robots would cooperate with humans and open a new world of scientific and medical advancement.

Fio realizes that there's no way to stop or even slow down "progress," but she also know that advances are mixed blessings.  The computer, which was ballyhooed as the salvation of mankind, providing education and enlightenment for all, is now the greatest purveyor of porn the world has ever known.

Robots may be pure of heart and mind, but humans aren't.

Night Owl

Fiorella the morning glory has turned into a night owl.  She is now devoting her mornings to housework, marketing, and general catch-up.  She spends four hours each afternoon on her work-in-progress.  After a three-hour break for dinner and pretending to be alive, she retires to her office from eight till approximately midnight, then prepares for bed,  Needless to say, she's been sleeping well lately.  And her manuscript is up to over 38,000 words. Only 55,000 more to go. Sigh.

Chapter Two

Here's the latest on Fio's medical front: the ninja mask is off and the doctor has set her next follow-up at three weeks, which means that now it's nature's turn to take its course.  The swelling is already going down, but the  bruises will take two more weeks to fade.  Still, Fio thinks she looks good--battered, but good.  She'll wear her new face to her RWA chapter meeting on Tuesday and see what kind of reaction she gets.

As if there's any way she can take it back for a refund.
