Fictional Reality
No, Fio does not go to the movies, nor does she watch them on television--she doesn't have the time. She's always working on the house or the yard or keeping up with friends or, as you know, writing, which is her full-time job. Besides, she's more interested in reality than fiction. But Fiorella, you say, you write fiction. To which Fiorella replies, "My fiction is reality."

Alcohol
Fiorella's mother grew up in a house that was dominated by her father's alcoholism so Fiorella grew up in a house that was alcohol-free.
But she was fascinated by the concept of drinking. Not like the drinking her grandfather engaged in, but like the sophisticated people on television and in the movies who had a beer with friends or sipped a glass of wine before dinner or carried around a cocktail at a toney parties.
Fio had her chance when she was eighteen and departed stone-sober Waco for the more mellow halls of The University of Texas. She drank on dates and at parties. She even got drunk a few times. But she never liked the taste. Finally she quite trying.
Make Fio's water.

Sharks, Tylenol, Mastiff, Weed Spray
Husband has been watching crocodile and shark horror movies all afternoon and Fiorella is doubly convinced that lakes, rivers, and the ocean are perilous to humankind.
*
Don't know what's in Tylenol Nighttime, but it insists that Fio get a full eight hours of sleep. Blessings on it.
*
Sonia Dog has taught herself to push open the back porch door to come back into the house. She's also learned to anchor a rawhide bone with her paw when she pulls at it. Obviously we have a mastiff genius on our hands.
*
Sometimes the most beautiful sight in the world is dead weeds along the driveway. Now we know the spray works.
*
Fiorella may have told you before, but she'll tell you again--a psychologist reads this blog on a daily basis. Be warned.
