Fiorella is a connoisseur of driveway stones. It's a born-in trait. When she was a little girl in Waco, she searched out the glossy little red and yellow and black and brown pebbles in the driveway, much to her mother's despair. Since moving out to the boondocks, she's been enamored of flint, but seven years of prospecting the driveway have pretty much dried up that supply.
Her latest mania is sparkling rocks, which Husband says are probably calcium carbonate. She has a collection of them on the window sill over the kitchen sink and a plastic shoebox of them outside on the back porch, where she also stores her flint collection, and every day, when Fio takes Sonia out for a walk up the driveway, she fills her pockets with more of the rocks.
OMG, Fio's a hoarder!

Acting Like a Dog
My name is Sonya Wendysdottir and I am a hoarder. I've turned the area beneath my princess bed into a boneyard, and every time little Bosco latches onto a bone, I take it from him. When I eat, I drop my current bone beside the feeding dish so I can keep an eye on it. When Mommy gives Bosco and me each a bone, I drop mine, grab his, and stand guard over both of them.
I act the same way with toys. And with people, shoving Bosco out of the way if Mommy and Daddy try to pet him.
I am Sonya. I am alpha. You won't hear me roar, but I do covet.

You've Saved My Life
Fiorella is a hoarder of everything she's ever written, and she's tried to write down everything. Be thankful her most recent efforts have been saved to the computer because otherwise her house would be a fire trap of stored paper--journalism, poetry, personal letters, essays, short stories, a vampire romance, first chapters of unfinished novels, random notes and observations on the human condition. You name it, she's written it.
Yes, stored on her faithful Dell are a hundred or so poems and partials, four complete novels (again, with partials), carols she composed years ago when she was in her music phase, old essays and new ones, twenty-some short stories, correspondence with her friends and relatives, and every stray thought she's ever had.
But her first line of defense against the house burning down, of course, is this blog. Thank you.
