In Praise of Chocolate
Ah--chocolate!
Sonia Dog awakened Fiorella much too early yesterday morning so she (Fio, not Sonia), spent most of her morning drowsing on the couch, in the bathtub, or on the bed. But this inactivity wouldn't cut the mustard--Fio had work to do. Besides, it was boring for her to lie around and do nothing--even though she didn't feel like doing anything. So Fio drove down the road to Walgreens and picked up a large Dove Bar for herself and a double Snickers for Husband,
Yes, Fio knows they should eaten a more healthy lunch, but what's done is done. And an hour later, Fiorella was back up to speed. She played the piano, broomed the webs off the front porch door, and started working on her new book.
Chocolate saved the day.

Refreshed
Sorry to make you wait
But Fiorella slept late
So now she's feeling grrrrrreat!
Up, Fio, up and away!
You've got a world to save today!

Chocolate, My Friend
Being as that Fio doesn't drink tea or coffee, chocolate is her only source of caffeine, and she had her fill of it last week during her prolonged birthday celebration. In fact, the chocolate dessert she had when being treated by Brother and his wife had her doing everything but swinging from the rafters. And when she got home at about 8:00, she still had the time and the ENERGY to take Sonya on her twice around walk on the 1-o-n-g driveway. Then she stayed up till midnight writing, writing, writing.
If chocolate isn't one of the major food groups, it darn well should be.

Chocolate to the Rescue
Pardon Fio if she's a bit jumpy. She'd been having a horrible time getting the beginning of chapter six to shape up so she finally gave in and bought herself a bag of chocolate kisses. Yes, your Fiorella, who doesn't drink coffee, has a caffeine deficiency.
And those little lumps of kiss-shaped calories worked. Fiorella's brain swung into hyperdrive and she went through the first five pages of the chapter again and again until they made sense. Now for the middle five pages. Maybe Fio can finish off the last five pages over the weekend--if she keeps herself high on chocolate.

Revival
How well did Fiorella cover herself Thursday through Saturday? She doesn't like to let anyone know when she's distressed so she hopes nothing leaked through except her Shylock poem, which had been written earlier and shelved--its publishing date date crept up on her unaware (or maybe her subconscious took over). Anyway, Fiorella went into a frenzy of physical activity for the aforementioned days, then collapsed on the couch Saturday afternoon. Yeah, after two nights of sleeplessness, she bombed out.
The great thing was that when she awoke, she realized that during her walking coma, she'd packed away the rest of the Christmas decorations, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, and thus allowed her brain to function again. Onward and upward, Fiorella!

Busy Every Minute
Fio had a great day yesterday. Despite having problems getting to sleep the night before, she woke up charged, ready to go. And that's exactly what she did--she wrote two blogs, played the piano, lifted weights, sprayed her nails, did her vocal exercises and her physical therapy exercises, took the dog for walks in the morning and evening, edited four chapters of Lolly's story for her agent to look at, worked on the art desk she and Husband are putting together, researched Telugu script, tracked down an old friend's phone number, called Capital One about a strange charge, sent chapter birthday information to the ARWA newsletter, cooked dinner, and experimented with reading Nook.
Today she'll breathe.
Today she'll breathe.

Up and At'em
It started when Fio decided to actually DO something about that pile of cedar that had been sitting in the north yard for almost a year. She told you the story--within a week it was gone.
Inspired by accomplishment, she gutted up and sent in a query to Jessica Faust, and you know that story too. What you don't know is that once the package hit the ether, she picked up the phone and made an appointment for that ultrasound that had been hanging over her. Another phone call set up a consultation about a lower eyelid lift. Then she searched the internet for a local auto window tinter. Today she'll send off a query to literary agent Liza Dawson.
She'll also re-read chapters 4-8 of one of her own manuscripts for editing and score at least one of the manuscripts she is judging for a writing contest. Practicing piano and hauling rocks out of the creek for lining the driveway are also on her list. And maybe chainsawing more cedars.
Fio, some days I love you.

Whoop-ti-doo!
Wake up, World, come dance with me!
Fio's feeling good today. Better than yesterday, when she bloated herself silly on glazed doughnuts.
Uhm--a bit of warning about the dancing, though. In keeping with with her little problems with mechanics and electronics, Fio has two left feet.
