The Evolution of Sonia Dog

When Sonia was a puppy, she slept in a cage next to Fiorella's side of the bed so that Fio could reach down and comfort Baby Dog if she whimpered during the night.  When Sonia grew older--and bigger--Husband doubled the size of the cage by removing the center divider.  At some point, Sonia objected to the cage door being closed so Fio left it open.  Eventually, Sonia decided she was grown up enough to sleep with Mommy and Daddy and climbed up on the bed.

And she's been warming our toes ever since.

Catching up with Fiorella

It was a hard summer, but now autumn, Fiorella's favorite season, is on stage.  Sonia Dog doesn't mind evening strolls, green acorns pave the driveway, and the door between the bedroom and the bathroom stays closed without wrapping a sock around the lock.

Fio's laptop is back in business.  Husband did something magical with the router and a toggle switch and the machine sprang back into action--for now.

When Minnesota Son&Wife arrive in Georgetown this afternoon, the whole tribe will be here to greet them--Austin Son&Wife, Daughter, and of course, Fio&Husband.  Wish us happy!

Personal Observations

Fiorella is a multi-tasker.  When she takes the dog for a walk, she practices her physical therapy posture, walking with her shoulders back and her chin up like a soldier.  When she eats breakfast, she also reads the newspaper and does the crossword.  And when she goes to the bathroom--never mind.

When Fio studies Sonia's solidly-built Mastiff body and remembers the streamlined shape of  Wendy the Weimaraner, she wonders why she's constantly fighting her own body type.  DNA is destiny.

Fiorella is one of those people who used to have migraines with auras, which means, according to Google medical news, she's destined for brain lesions.  And the heavy birthweight of her babies indicate she'll get diabetes.  To top it off,  cancer runs in her mother's family and heart trouble in her dad's.  Guess all that means she's gonna die some day.
