Preparing for Christmas

Christmas season is officially here as far as Fio goes. She's pulled the trash bag stuffed with tinsel down from its garage shelf so she can decorate the trees lining the driveway, and she's settled on a design for her annual card (non-political this year). After she's finished off these two projects, she'll put the traditional tree together and lure people over to the house to help her decorate it. Then there are the window and fireplace decorations, the doorway swags, more outdoor stuff, and a second tree down in the south meadow.

Christmas Frenzy

Fio is on a roll!  She finished off her Christmas sonnet on Wednesday and mocked up her card yesterday evening.  She's also cut out a dozen big snowflakes and taped them on windows around the house.  The stocking are up too.  Still to go are showcasing her many nativity scenes, tying bows on everything tyable, decorating every empty surface with Santas, hanging plastic snowflakes from the little tree outside the door, putting up the wreaths and swags, baking gingerbread cakes for the neighbors and--oh yes--shopping.

Kindergarten Creative

Fiorella strikes again!  Yes, she's come up with a Christmas card this year that's downright bizarre.  On a neon green background, she's pasted a true green Christmas tree of her own design.  On the tree, she's pasted a crossword-puzzle type design in red which uses all the family names.  Building off a vertical "MERRY CHRISTMAS," she linked Husband's surname, her own maiden name, the three children's first names, their two spouses' first and last names, everyone's pets' names, and Husband's sister's married name. At the top of the tree, which is shaped like a chocolate kiss, Fiorella pasted a loving red heart.

Mrs. Ruebright, Fiorella's kindergarten teacher, would have been proud.  That woman could make anything out of paper.
